Dr. David Reese
Dr. Reese currently serves as the CEO at Alexea Group, a consultancy firm he founded and has led for more than 20 years, providing business development, strategic planning, and management resources to the life sciences industry. Dr. Reese continues to consult in the laboratory and therapeutics space at Alexea Group. He has leveraged his scientific expertise and vast commercial, regulatory, and clinical contacts to improve portfolio selection, management protocols, and company strategy.
In 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Reese founded and served as CEO of Accurex Diagnostic Services where he combined a results-driven clinical background with deep experience in biotechnology and molecular diagnostics and an extensive professional network in healthcare and life sciences. From the time of inception, peak sales were reached within nine months with a successful exit in 18 months.
Prior to Accurex, he founded Provista Diagnostics, Inc. in 2011, where he served as President,
CEO, and Chief Scientific Officer. An oncology diagnostic company, Dr. Reese was the primary architect of the product Videssa Breast, a revolutionary, blood-based, breast-cancer detection tool. In his multiple roles, he oversaw executive management, scientific standards, and business development, which included the development of an entire suite of women’s’ cancer blood tests.
In 2003, while completing his fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Reese made the remarkable and prescient decision to transition to the finance sector by joining the long-short portfolio at DKR Capital where he managed all healthcare assets. A few years later, he joined Yorkville Advisors as managing director of healthcare assets, overseeing all healthcare structured transactions, and leading a sizeable investment team. After Yorkville, he became Managing Director at Brencourt Advisors, a multi-strategy hedge fund, where he was responsible for managing all healthcare assets.
Dr. Reese’s research experience spans an array of healthcare disciplines. He holds a B.S. in Microbiology from Arizona State University and a PhD. in Biomedical Sciences from Vanderbilt University. He completed fellowships at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and was a Charles H. Revsen fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College. He has appeared on numerous financial industry panels exploring the funding and development environment for small healthcare companies. Dr. Reese’s academic work in the biomedical sciences has resulted in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, scholarly reviews, presentations, and medical textbook chapters.
