    David Nelson

    David Nelson is the Chief Advisor of Federal Agencies Contracting at SCALE Healthcare.

    David is a seasoned healthcare management leader with significant CEO, COO, and business development experience in both payer and provider operating companies.  He is the Founder and CEO of Inovacus, LLC, a firm dedicated to providing operating companies as well as venture and private equity groups with strategic counsel, operational improvement designs, and fundraising support.

    Previously, David served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Sierra Military Health Services (SMHS), a managed care company created to provide delivery of TRICARE, the Department of Defense (DoD), risk-based, health benefit. SMHS delivered health care services to DoD’s 1.2M eligible personnel in 13 states throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. SMHS was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sierra Health Services, Inc., a publicly-traded integrated delivery system headquartered in Nevada.

    David served as co-founder of xG Health Solutions, the for-profit spin-out of Geisinger Health System and Founder, Chairman, CEO, and president of Calvert Health Partners, a healthcare provider services holding company.  He also founded and served as President of three integrated companies including Integrated Healthcare Services, Inc. a managed care marketing and advisory firm specializing in health service analysis, provider education, network development, and leading, on behalf of its clients, competitive bid efforts in the highly regulated Medicaid, Medicare, and CHAMPUS/TRICARE environments.  The other two companies were Integrated Training and Resources, Inc., a training and production company, and Integrated Clinical Services, Inc., a medical service staffing company.

    David currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Quinnipiac University as Vice Chairman.  He received his Masters of Arts in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Iowa and his Bachelor of Science in Hospital and Health Services Administration from Quinnipiac University.  David has been recognized with many awards including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Healthcare in Maryland as well as many service awards presented by the US Armed Forces.
