Mark O’Neill is the Chief Advisor of Gastroenterology Provider Platforms at SCALE Healthcare.
Mark is a veteran gastroenterology leader with nearly 20 years’ experience. He began his GI career at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Mark served as the administrator to the Chief of GI and gastroenterologist to the White House.
Mark has managed several large independent physician specialty groups including the largest gastroenterology practices in Philadelphia and Tampa. As CEO of Gastro Florida, Tampa Bay’s largest gastroenterology specialty practice, Mark prepared the practice for a private equity transaction and acquired several practices throughout Tampa Bay. He led both Main Line Gastroenterology Associates, the premiere digestive disease practice in Philadelphia, PA, and Lancaster Gastroenterology, Inc. (LGI) in Lancaster, PA. Both practices are now part of Amulet Capital-backed U.S. Digestive Health.
Mark has held senior leadership positions at several hospitals, physician practices, and healthcare ventures over the course of his career and earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps. He is currently the Managing Director/Consultant at American Healthcare Leadership International, which provides skilled leadership for physician-centric ventures across the globe to healthcare providers and institutions.
Mark earned a master’s degree in Health Finance and Management from The Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and an undergraduate degree in History and Political Science with a minor in Medical Ethics from the University of Pittsburgh. He also studied Irish history and literature at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
Mark is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) by the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
