Mark Newton is the Executive Partner, Hospital Management at SCALE Healthcare.

Mark is a strategic leader with over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare industry.

Mark is the former 16-year President & CEO of Swedish Covenant Hospital where he led the organization in becoming a leading independent safety net system.  The hospital received many awards under his leadership and doubled assets to $450 million.  He expanded residency programs in many specialties including Critical Care, Primary Care, Emergency Room Care, and Podiatry.  He was the President and Vice Chairman of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation for nearly 10 years and created and launched the Foundation by raising over $30 million to advance a healing environment and provide balance sheet strength.

Previously, Mark held the roles of Senior Vice President at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and Senior Vice President at Lakeland Health/Highland Park Hospital. During this period, Mark was involved in the creation of the Northwestern Healthcare Network – one of the first regional Integrated Delivery Systems in the market. He is the former Director of International Sales and Marketing for American Hospital Supply/Baxter World Trade and Mark was recently an Operating Partner for Driehaus Private Equity.

Mark graduated suma cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from North Park University and a Master’s in Management in Marketing and Finance from Northwestern University, Kellogg School.  He holds the FACHE certification.
