Background

SCALE Healthcare was engaged with a midsize orthopedic group in Pennsylvania. The practice decided it needed a new vision and business plan to improve its performance within their clinical research division. SCALE provided a 4-week timeline and commissioned a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with over 10 years of experience in Clinical Research.

Current State

The client was an established research partner with a solid patient database and presence in the Ortho community. However, its overall vision, organization design, and foundational components lacked clarity of scope. The practice did not have clear and concise processes in place including missing standard operating procedures (SOP). There were no KPIs set to track trial vetting and procurement and financial status. Financial budgeting and contract negotiations were also deficient.

SCALE assessed the practice’s current state, provided recommendations for improvement, and supplied a thorough, reasonable and pertinent business plan that would increase trial engagement, pipeline performance, and track its financial state. SCALE also developed an organizational chart that simplified the scope and provided roles and responsibilities clarity to all stakeholders. The team drafted SOPs that would strengthen and promote operational efficiency and compliance.  SCALE also outlined a plan of action to further develop industry rapport to optimize cost recovery and revenue generation as well as overall business development.
